What Does UPI Offer?
Instead of repeatedly inputting bank details, UPI users can transact with a single identifier. The system supports peer-to-peer inter-bank transfers through a two-click factor authentication process and is overseen by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
UPI integrates with existing platforms like Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) and Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) to provide smooth transactions across accounts. It supports both sending and receiving payments and negates the need for credit or debit cards, net banking, or entering account details for transactions.
To utilize UPI payment in India, you must have a bank account with a mobile number linked to it. A smartphone with internet access is necessary, as is a debit card, which is used for resetting the Mobile Banking Personal Identification Number (mPIN).
Author's note
To get started, you need to download an app that supports UPI, such as Google Pay or BHIM, register online using your account details, create a virtual ID, and set an mPIN (Mobile PIN). For transactions, use your registered Smartphone and mPIN.
Fees
Direct UPI transfers between bank accounts in India are free of charge.
Keep in mind
In certain situations, merchants are required to pay an interchange fee. This charge is imposed on the merchant's end, leaving it up to them whether to absorb the cost or pass it on to the customers. Always check with a casino whether they pass on the fees to players.
Is UPI Safe?
The UPI system was developed in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India to progress towards a "less-cash" and more digitally-oriented society. It allows users to utilize their bank account as a wallet through a streamlined two-factor authenticator, removing the necessity to hold funds in secondary wallets.
Moreover, the introduction of Virtual ID in UPI transactions enhances security as users are not required to disclose their banking credentials. This structure makes it a secure and reliable digital payment method.
How to Use UPI at a Casino?
To make deposits and withdrawals at online casinos using UPI, ensure you have an active UPI ID and your corresponding mPIN.
- From your mobile device, log into a UPI online casino;
- Select UPI as your desired deposit method;
- Specify the deposit amount;
- Provide your unique UPI ID;
- Type in your UPI mPIN and confirm the transaction;
- Once completed, your casino account balance will reflect the deposited amount.
You can also use the UPI system to transfer your winnings directly to your bank account. Share your UPI ID with the casino to transfer your winnings.
Is UPI Worth It?
If security and reliability are priorities for you, the UPI payment system is an excellent choice for casino payments in India. It's regulated by the Reserve Bank of India, which assures its reliability, especially for making deposits on casino sites.
However, while it's available for Indian nationals both domestically and in some foreign countries, if you're not an Indian national or if you're looking for broader international acceptance, I'd recommend opting for globally accepted payment methods instead.
